CAL FIRE Tuesday morning Update: 6,559 Acres with 0% Containment
CAL FIRE Monday evening Update: 6,484 acres
August 26, 2025 - Sierra National Forest officials report as of early Monday afternoon, August 25, the Garnet Fire on the Sierra National Forest (SNF) is at 4,400 acres, burning in grass and brush in an area with limited access and steep terrain. This is a full suppression fire.

The SNF is fully engaged and effectively working with cooperating agencies toward the goal of protecting values in a safe and efficient manner, and prioritizing safety for emergency personnel and the public at all times.
There are 150 personnel assigned to the incident, with multiple pending requests for more being processed. Two Type 2 and 1 Type 1 helicopter are assigned. The fire is currently at 0 percent containment.
A Complex Incident Management Team will receive their in-brief this afternoon to begin the transition of the management of this incident.
