August 26, 2025 - As of Tuesday morning the Garnet Fire is 9,159 acres burning in grass and brush in an area with limited access and steep terrain.

This is a full suppression fire.
The Sierra National Forest is fully engaged and effectively working with our cooperative partners toward a goal of protecting values in a safe and efficient manner to provide for emergency personnel and public safety at all times.
There are 150 personnel assigned with multiple pending requests coming in. Two Type 2 and 1 Type 1 helicopters are assigned.
A Complex Incident Management Team will be coming in this afternoon to transition management of this incident

The fire is expected to remain active for the next operational period. Short and long range spotting of fire will continue with significant perimeter growth on all flanks. The most significant spread will be upslope where winds align with the terrain. |

Monsoonal moisture will continue to bring chances for showers and thunderstorms across the burn area until midweek. Tuesday's weather is anticipated to be mostly cloudy with showers and a chance of thunderstorms, precipitation amounts of up to 0.05" are forecast. The maximum temperatures are expected to be 90-94F with relative humidity levels at 32-36%. Winds will be southeast 6-12 mph in the morning, becoming southwest in the afternoon.
