September is National Cold Case Month

August 30, 2025 – Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office officials announce that starting on September 1st, agencies nationwide are shining a light on unsolved cases, and for the second consecutive year, the Calaveras County Cold Case Task Force is joining the effort.

Throughout the month of September, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office will be sharing case profiles of unsolved missing person and homicide cases from Calaveras County.

For those of you who remember the first rollout of the Cold Case Month in 2024, some of the case summaries have been updated with additional photos or new information where possible. We hope that someone, somewhere, will have the missing piece of information to bring closure and justice. Please take the time to read and share the case summaries. It may be you or someone you share it with who will solve the case.

New this year for Cold Case Month, you will notice a mobile billboard placed throughout Calaveras County with profiles of several cases printed on it. We hope that this billboard will draw the attention of residents and visitors who may have information on a case. The billboard was made possible by donations to the Cold Case Task Force.

The Calaveras County Cold Case Task Force is made up of members from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office, Angels Camp Police Department, and the Calaveras County Coroner’s Office. As a non-profit corporation, the Task Force operates under an advisory board which consists of experts from varied disciplines and backgrounds.
