September 1, 2025 – CAL FIRE officials issue a reminder that uncontrolled wildfires put all of us—our homes and neighborhoods, the natural resources we enjoy and rely on, and our lives and livelihoods—at risk.

These wildfires are becoming bigger, more dangerous, and coming closer to us than ever before in our lifetimes.

TOGETHER WE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Working together, we can take steps as people, as communities, and as a state to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfire … to be ready to respond … and to get out of harm’s way when they happen.

Here’s what you can do to help:

  • Get your GO BAG ready now before the next big wildfire hits your community. Make sure to include any important papers, prescriptions, chargers, food, and water.
  • Know and practice your evacuation routes ahead of time.
  • Stay aware of active wildfires and alerts from local law enforcement.
  • And when you need to evacuate, go right away. Early evacuation helps firefighters in protecting homes and communities and avoids putting their lives at risk.
