Students in Teena Starchman's third and fourth grade class and Erika Miranda's fifth and sixth grade class enjoyed a field trip to the Fresno Art Museum. They were given a tour of exhibits, had a chance to create their own piece of art, and had lunch in the outdoor sculpture garden. It was a wonderful trip! Students talk about the rules with the FAM director before entering the museum. Unfortunately for the photographer, one of the rules was not photos at the inside exhibits. After looking and talking about an exhibit showcasing 60 years worth of portraits of art patron Joan Agajanian Quinn made by a variety of artists she championed, students went to the FAM classroom and made portraits of their teacher. Some of Erika Miranda's fifth and sixth graders hard at work on their portraits, including Sayer Harry (foreground) and Allex Smith (behind, next to him). Students had discussed representational versus abstract portrait renderings with their tour guides. Natalee Marundee shows off her abstract rendering of teacher Teena Starchman (who loves owls).
