Sheriff’s Office Investigating Selma Police Officer-Involved Shooting
September 8, 2025 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report that shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, dispatchers with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired in the area of Hwy. 43 and E. Nebraska Ave. in Selma.
A short time later, officers with Selma Police attempted to contact the occupant(s) of a vehicle possibly related to the shots fired call. This occurred in the Walmart shopping center located at 3400 E. Floral Ave. in Selma. During this encounter, a person fled from the vehicle and an officer fired their weapon, striking the suspect. EMS transported the suspect to the hospital for treatment, where he is listed in fair condition.
Selma Police requested the Sheriff’s Office take over the Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) investigation. Detectives are now working this portion of the case, as well as continuing to look further into the initial shots fired call near Hwy. 43 and E. Nebraska Ave.
