Narcotics Seizure and Arrests 

September 13, 2025 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that in June 2025, Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Gang Suppression Unit, began an investigation into a local criminal street gang and their involvement in the sales of narcotics. During the investigation, deputies identified the source of supply for the narcotics. As the investigation developed, the Bakersfield Police Department, Major Narcotics Unit, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) joined the investigation with information regarding the source of supply.

On September 11, 2025, in a collaborative effort, the Gang Suppression Unit, along with the BPD Major Narcotics Unit and DEA, served search warrants at three properties associated with the investigation in the 100 block of East Pacheco Road, the 3100 block of Cottonwood Road, and the 3400 block of Lotus Lane. As a result of the investigation, over 45 pounds of methamphetamine, 12 pounds of fentanyl, 3 pounds of black tar heroin, and three firearms were seized.

Luis Marquez (38) and Ruben Garcia (55) were arrested for their involvement in the sales of narcotics. Luis Marquez was arrested for the sales and transportation of narcotics, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and conspiracy. Ruben Garcia was arrested for the sales and transportation of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and conspiracy. Both Marquez and Garcia were transported to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Justice Facility, and booked on the above-listed charges.
