September 14, 2025 – Mariposa County Library officials announce upcoming event for National Constitution Day.

Join us on Wednesday, September 17th from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Mariposa Library for a special event honoring National Constitution Day, which commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17th, 1787.

While the original document lacked a Bill of Rights, these critical Constitutional amendments were added just four years later.

Mariposa County D.A. Walter Wall and Stanislaus State University criminal justice professor Blake Wilson will lead a discussion on the Bill of Rights, and how specific rights are implemented in our day-to-day justice system.

Attendees will receive their very own pocket-sized copy of the U.S. Constitution. Additionally, we will be offering a prize drawing for a quill pen and oak gall ink set.

Free. No registration required.

Enter our prize drawing to win your very own quill pen ink set, complete with iron gall ink and fancy paper.

Did you know? Iron gall ink, made with oak galls and ferrous sulfate, was used to sign the original copy of the U.S. Constitution in September of 1787.

To enter the drawing, simply fill out a slip of paper with your name and phone number during your next visit to the Mariposa Library.

The winner will be announced this Wednesday, September 17th, during our National Constitution Day event, which takes place from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. All are welcome to attend this free event.
