Cold Case – Homicide Investigation – Help Us Bring Justice for Roy Dixon
September 15, 2025 – Calaveras County Sheriff's Office officials report that on October 14, 1997, around 2:30 a.m., deputies responded to Winton Road in West Point, Calaveras County, CA, after reports of gunshots. Shortly after, a vehicle fire was reported in the same area.
When deputies arrived, they found a Jeep Cherokee fully engulfed in flames and, just four feet away, the body of Roy Dixon.
A coroner’s investigation revealed:
- Multiple stab wounds to the back, shoulder, lungs, and heart
- Severe crushing injuries to the head, neck, and chest
- Burns to the body and clothing
Evidence suggests Dixon may have been run over by a vehicle. Despite many leads and interviews over the years, the Dixon Homicide remains unsolved.
