June 21, 2016 - Fireworks will fly over Lake McClure in celebration of America’s Independence on Saturday, July 2. The Lights on the Lake display will begin at dusk or around 9 p.m. Viewing-areas at McClure Point will open to the public at 5 p.m.

MID Parks and Recreation welcomes visitors to enjoy the show from designated areas along the shore, or from their own boats. All nighttime navigation laws apply and will be enforced.

“We have had several challenging years with the drought. The return of the fireworks show this year is great news to everyone and we are looking forward to making this a fantastic event,” said MID Parks Director Bret Theodozio.

Entrance to Lake McClure will be $20 per vehicle through the kiosk at 9090 Lake McClure Road, Snelling. Visitors are welcome to arrive early and spend the day at Lakes McClure and McSwain.

Recently, 1,750 pounds of trout were planted in Lake McSwain. Among them were five trout with gold tagged fish. Anglers who catch any of these gold-tagged trout can receive $250 for their catch. Currently one remains in Lake McSwain, and another five are in Lake McClure.

Campsites at Lakes McClure are still available for the weekend.

As a reminder, the use of personal fireworks is strictly prohibited in Mariposa County.
