“Fraud Guard” Protecting Your Real Estate Property
September 22, 2025 – Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office officials report that the Sheriff’s Office is continually looking at ways to educate the public about scams, cons, and various methods used by swindlers to defraud individuals of their money or real estate. Real estate fraud can occur when a suspect uses one of many methods to transfer ownership of a property without the owner's consent or knowledge.
“Fraud Guard” is a free program administered by the Calaveras County Clerk's Office. It monitors public records for suspicious activity related to property ownership, provides alerts regarding potential scams or fraudulent transactions, and offers resources to help residents safeguard their property and protect their ownership rights.
