We Need Your Help!
September 22, 2025 – Mariposa County Health & Human Services Agency (MCHHSA) officials are seeking community input on a proposal to co-apply for Bond Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program-2 grant funding.
These grant funds would allow for the participation as a co-applicant with Madera County to develop a facility for Mental Health Crisis Stabilization and Sobering Center in Oakhurst, California.
Through this co-application, Mariposa County residents will benefit from having access to more expedient treatment options closer to their home as well as meaningful coordination of follow-up services.
Current resources in the area do not include a crisis stabilization unit or a sobering center. The closest option for these services is Modesto or Fresno, both of which are often full, resulting in long wait times. A lack of this level of care can also lead to persons in a mental health or substance-use crisis needing a higher level of treatment due to the wait times for treatment.
