September 23, 2025 - Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department officials report Keyante Aaron Reed,19, a Black male adult, currently wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred in the City of Riverbank. Reed is described as having black hair and brown eyes, standing at about 5’10 inches tall and weighing about 177 pounds. The victim in this case has been identified as Markesse W. Owens, a 41-year-old male. Reed is considered armed and dangerous. Individuals who encounter Reed or know where he is currently located are urged to call 911.

On September 19, 2025, at approximately 3:56 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 6100 block of Claus Road in the City of Riverbank. Upon arrival, deputies located Owens, suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies immediately began providing lifesaving measures; however, despite their efforts, Owens ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

While securing the residence associated with Ownes, deputies located two juveniles inside the home. Both children were unharmed and were safely removed from the location. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit were dispatched to investigate this incident. During this investigation, detectives identified Reed as a suspect and a warrant for murder has been issued for his arrest. Reed’s whereabouts are unknown at this time.
