Sen. Cornyn Statement on Indictment of Former FBI Director Comey
September 26, 2025 - HARLINGEN – U.S. Senator John Cornyn released the following statement on reports that former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey has been indicted for obstruction of justice and making false statements:
“While our legal system provides for the presumption of innocence, Comey’s accountability for FBI abuses during the first Trump term are long overdue,” said Sen. Cornyn. “These charges are serious offenses, especially if committed by the head of our nation’s top law enforcement agency, and there must be consequences for any crimes.”
