October 4, 2025 – Merced, CA – Merced Police Department officials report that the Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) arrested a Merced man after a police K9 located narcotics hidden inside his vehicle.
On October 3, 2025, Officer Mendoza with the GVSU conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of East Main Street. During the stop, Officer Hernandez and his K9 partner Koa arrived to assist.
K9 Koa conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. Officers then searched the vehicle and located two hidden compartments containing:
- 27.7 grams of methamphetamine
- 10.2 grams of cocaine
- 1.4 grams of powdered fentanyl
- 110 fentanyl pills
- A large amount of U.S. currency
The driver, identified as 45-year-old Ishmel Brewer of Merced, was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of possession of narcotics for sale and transportation of narcotics.
The Merced Police Department remains committed to combating illegal narcotics in the community and will continue to use specialized units and resources to hold offenders accountable.
