October 7, 2025 – Modesto Police Department officials report that on Friday, September 26th, Detectives with the Modesto Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit were conducting an Organized Retail Theft Operation with local retail partners. Just after 3:30 p.m., Detectives were notified by Target Stores Loss Prevention Officers (3900 Sisk Road) of two males stealing items from the store.
The two males were observed selecting items from inside the store, concealing these items on their person and then leaving making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as they exited the store. They were observed getting into a vehicle parked in the parking lot, and Detectives quickly jumped into action to take them into custody.
The males, identified as 18-year-old Angel Cabrera and 19-year-old Christian DiazSilva, both of Salinas, CA, were taken into custody without incident. The stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to Target Stores.
During the investigation, Detectives learned Angel Cabrera was wanted in connection to a double-homicide which had occurred in Salinas, CA, on September 19th. Salinas PD Detectives were contacted, who responded to Modesto and took custody of Angel.
Christian DiazSilva was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for 459.5PC – Burglary.
Sgt. Mike Hicks, who supervises the Property Crimes Unit, said, “This arrest is just one example of the violent criminals who commit these types of offenses. We are dedicated to keeping our community safe. Not in Modesto.”
