October 7, 2025 - Sierra National Forest Officials say we’re happy to share that starting today, October 7, approximately 16,782 acres of the Sierra National Forest previously closed due to the Garnet Fire are now open again for public access.
This is our 3rd forest order that continues our progress of opening areas related to the Garnet Fire.
Some areas remain closed for safety and repair work addressing the monumental hazard tree situation. This updated order reflects real progress on the ground—and our commitment to reopening as soon as possible.
We appreciate your patience and support as crews continue restoring trails, roads, and landscapes impacted by the fire. If you're planning to visit the Sierra National Forest, please check the latest maps and take note of posted signage.
