Honoring K9 Tango – A True Hero of Mariposa County 

October 29, 2025 – Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office officials sadly announce the passing of Mariposa County Sheriff’s K9 Tango.

On Tuesday, with heavy hearts, we said goodbye to one of our own, K9 Tango, a loyal and courageous member of the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.

K9 Tango faithfully served the people of Mariposa County alongside his dedicated partner, Sergeant Lunquist, protecting our community with devotion and bravery. Whether tracking suspects, locating evidence, or keeping our deputies safe, Tango gave his all every single day.

Beyond his skill and courage, Tango was more than just a K9 officer, he was family. His bond with Sergeant Lunquist and his love for his work were evident to all who knew him.

Tango’s service will never be forgotten.

Thank you, K9 Tango, for your years of service, loyalty, and love. Rest easy, good boy. We’ll take it from here.
