Lamont Grand Theft Arrests
October 31, 2025 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on October 24, 2025, deputies from the Lamont Substation were dispatched to the Self-Help Federal Credit Union in Lamont regarding a grand theft investigation. Deputies identified a suspect, Ailyn Mendez, age 24, who stole over $7,000 from bank members’ funds. Deputies obtained a warrant for Mendez’s arrest and a search warrant for her residence.
On October 29, 2025, deputies served a search warrant at Mendez’s residence and placed her under arrest for PC 487(A)-grand theft, PC 460(b)-burglary and PC 502(C)(1)(A)-accessing a computer to commit fraud.
Deputies also contacted parolee, Angel Alfaro Jr., age 27, at Mendez’s residence. Alfaro was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun with a high-capacity magazine and a short-barrel AR-15 style rifle with a high-capacity magazine. Alfaro has a prior felony conviction and is prohibited from possessing firearms. Alfaro was arrested for PC 30305(A)(1)-prohibited person in possession of ammunition, PC 32310(A)-possession of a high-capacity magazine, PC 29800(A)(1)- prohibited person in possession of a firearm, PC 33215-possession of a short barrel rifle.
