November 1, 2025 – Merced CHP officials report that on Thursday, Officer Enriquez and Officer Mason responded to a traffic collision at Santa Fe Drive and Franklin Road involving a dump truck and a sedan. The impact caused significant damage to the sedan’s passenger side, but thankfully, the driver sustained only minor injuries.

This crash is a reminder of how important it is to always wear your seatbelt. Seatbelts and airbags are designed to protect you together, and without that restraint, the outcome can be far more serious.

According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, seatbelt use across the state reached 96.21 percent in 2023, yet unrestrained drivers and passengers still account for a large number of serious injuries and deaths each year. Buckle up, stay alert, and obey the signal.
