One Killed in Solo-Vehicle Crash

November 2, 2025 – Madera CHP officials report that on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at approximately 5:54 a.m., CHP Madera officers responded to a solo vehicle crash on Avenue 14, west of Road 9.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 79-year-old man from Fresno, California, was driving a silver 2011 Toyota Camry, westbound on Avenue 14, west of Road 9, at an undetermined speed. For reasons still under investigation, the driver failed to recognize the end of the roadway and continued onto a dirt access road leading to a metal gate and concrete barriers, where the front of the Toyota crashed into the gate and concrete barriers. Due to the force of the impact, the driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel. Although the driver was wearing a seatbelt, it was improperly positioned with the shoulder strap worn behind his back at the time of the crash.

This crash is still under investigation. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor (pending toxicology report).

Always wear your seatbelt properly, low and snug across your hips and across the center of your chest. A properly worn seatbelt greatly reduces your risk of injury or death in a crash.
