November 5, 2025 - Los Angeles - In response to California voters passing Proposition 50 in Tuesday’s statewide special election, Courage California applauds the courageous leaders and voters for passing The Election Rigging Response Act, allowing California the opportunity to counter President Trump’s overreach and attacks.
Irene Kao, Executive Director of Courage California, issued the following statement:
“Proposition 50 is a historic win powered by the voters of California, who continue to be on the front lines of fighting Trump and Republicans’ attacks on the people and programs that make our communities and economies strong.
This is the first time Californians have had the opportunity to vote directly for and pass our own Congressional maps. Proposition 50’s victory is a rebuke of the destructive MAGA agenda and an important step towards holding Republicans accountable and taking back the House in 2026. And it is also a celebration of voter power that we must build on to move our state and nation towards a more humane, just, and prosperous future.
Maintaining the momentum and utilizing Prop 50 in the midterm election will require deep investments in and early engagement with California’s diverse communities through trusted messengers like Courage California and the many labor unions and community groups we work with.”
Courage California’s preliminary voter engagement: 60K people have used our Courage Voter Guide for Yes on Prop 50, which was translated into Spanish, Chinese, Hmong, Korean, Punjabi, Tagalog, and Vietnamese, and 4.5M impressions across the state, via streaming and social media, both in English and in-language ads.
