Stranded Hunters Brought to Safety
November 13, 2025 – Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report that early Saturday morning, November 8th, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency 911 text reporting that four hunters and their four dogs were lost in the area of Little Grizzly Canyon, outside of Foresthill. One of the hunters was injured and also experiencing a medical condition that required attention.
Dispatchers did an excellent job gathering critical information, which helped deputies develop a plan for rescue. Due to the group’s remote location, a Search and Rescue operation was initiated, and Falcon 30 was launched to assist.
The Falcon 30 crew quickly located the hunters and their dogs. The injured hunter was hoisted out first and transported for medical care. The remaining three hunters and four dogs were then safely hoisted out of the canyon. We’re happy to report that everyone is doing well!
The dogs - Lilly, Hassle, Crooked Pate, and Reba - were true champs through it all and even made friends with our team!
A big thank-you to all the volunteer Search and Rescue team members, dispatchers, deputies, and the Falcon 30 crew. It was a team effort with a great outcome!
