Music on the Green– the free summer concert series brought to you by The Mariposa County Arts Council and its many fine sponsors – continues into the 2016 season, presenting live, in concert, Cottonwood Creek (featuring Maggie Watkins and Scott Patrick Little) on Friday, July 15, and Deja Blues on Saturday, July 16, 2016.

Cottonwood CreekCottonwood Creek (featuring Maggie Watkins and Scott Patrick Little)

Local Mariposa singer/songwriter Scott Patrick Little and his partner Maggie Watkins have been entertaining audiences all over California’s Central Valley and Foothills at venues of all sizes with a high energy Americana/Country/Folk sound that has even impressed Nashville, where they also left their mark in recent years. Four years ago they formed Cottonwood Creek and have been compared to The Old Crow Medicine Show and Zac Brown, in the performance of their own original, foot-stomping music. They’re on their way back to Nashville for more expansion of their horizons, so this may be the last opportunity to catch a hometown performance before they break nationally.

Deja BluesDeja Blues

Hailing from California’s Central Valley, Deja Blues –  stalwart purveyors of the vast Blues genre – will be making their debut performance at the Art Park on Saturday. Together for over a decade, Deja Blues mixes the sound of their original Blues with all styles of this distinct American art form. Running the gamet from the Mississippi Delta to Chicago Shuffle, West Coast Jump to Texas Boogie, they cover deep cuts from Charlie Musselwhite, Stevie Ray, Freddy King, Hollywood Fats and Muddy Waters, among so many others.

Visit MariposaArtsCouncil.org for the complete 2016 season line-up & more (see schedule below).

All performances begin at 7 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Hwy. 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa, CA. Free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access.

The shows are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged, and appreciated.

The Mariposa Arts Council – including Music on the Green - is funded in part by Mariposa County, the California Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts. The MARIPOSA COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL, INC. is an incorporated not-for- profit organization, created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts, for all ages, throughout Mariposa County.
