November 17, 2025 – CAL FIRE officials report that each year, CAL FIRE environmental scientists and forestry professionals head deep into California’s wildlands to monitor cones and collect seeds. Going from cones to full-grown forests.

These tiny powerhouses are sent to the L.A. Moran Reforestation Center in Davis, where they’ll eventually help to regrow forests impacted by wildfire, drought, and disease.
