UPDATE: TCSO Deputy Out of Surgery Following Deadly Crash with Stolen Car
November 18, 2025 – Tulare County Sheriff's Office officials report that Sheriff Boudreaux is happy to announce that the TCSO Deputy involved in this morning’s deadly crash with two suspects in a stolen vehicle is now out of surgery and in stable condition
Around 12:00 a.m., TCSO Deputies found a stolen vehicle with two people inside near the top of Lewis Hill in Porterville.
When Deputies tried to contact the people inside the stolen vehicle, they drove off toward Porterville. Deputies found the vehicle for a second, time parked in the area of Wilson and Mulberry. When the Deputy tried to contact the people inside again, the driver accelerated forward, intentionally striking a Tulare County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit.
As the vehicle sped off again, officers from the Porterville Police Department saw the vehicle near Westfield and Newcomb and tried to stop it. The vehicle failed to stop and sped away. The suspect vehicle failed to stop when it went through the intersection of Westfield and Prospect and crashed into another Sheriff’s Deputy’s vehicle traveling through the intersection.
As a result of the crash, the suspects vehicle caught fire and spread to a nearby house. One of the people inside the car was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to a local hospital with major injuries.
The Sheriff’s Deputy was also taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
This incident is being investigated by the Porterville Police Department.
