December 4, 2025 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials remind everyone to be vigilant during the holiday season.

The holiday season is here and so are the porch pirates (not that they ever took a break). We have posted about this problem before but think it is worth reminding you of some simple ways to protect your packages. Yes, we know you shouldn't have to do this as it causes inconvenience, but it will ensure you don't get ripped off.

1) Have the item shipped to the store for pickup.

2) Ship the item to your workplace.

3) Have the shipping company hold it for pickup at places such as the post office or UPS store.

4) Register for delivery updates so you can have someone home to accept the item.

5) Invest in a metal parcel lock box. Many of these boxes can be anchored down into wood or concrete. When placing your order online, include your pin code in the instructions, which will allow the delivery person to access the box.
