High-Country Health Food and Cafe in Mariposa California

December 4, 2025 - Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) joined Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Senator Alex Padilla (D-Catherine Cortez Masto official portrait nevada senator 2025Calif.), immigration experts, and Dreamers to celebrate the reintroduction of the bipartisan Dream Act. At the press conference, Cortez Masto spoke about the urgent need for permanent protections for undocumented immigrants who grew up in this country.

“At a time when the Trump administration is doing everything it can to tell our friends, neighbors, colleagues, students, and family members that they do not belong here, we must stand with Dreamers,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “Not only is America their home, for many of them, it is the only country they have ever known. I’ll always fight for these bright, hardworking young people as they work to secure their own American Dreams.”

The first and only Latina senator, Senator Cortez Masto has consistently supported immigrant communities in Nevada, calling on both the Biden and Trump administrations to protect DACA recipients, TPS holders and other immigrants. She has worked to pass meaningful immigration reform that balances critical border security measures with a path to citizenship for Dreamers, TPS holders, and essential workers. She is also leading legislation to allow DACA recipients to work in Congress
