December 11, 2025 - Sierra National Forest officials report Fire Crews on the Sierra National Forest continue to conduct pile burning
operations on the Bass Lake (BLRD) and High Sierra (HSRD) Ranger Districts.

BLRD: Crews ignited five acres prescribed fire on the Oak Fire burn piles near Battalion Pass, at 5S41 Alpha Road. Ignitions took place on Monday, Dec. 8 with smoke expected to be highly visible in the Ponderosa Basin, Wawona, and Fish Camp communities.
Crews also ignited five acres at Sugar Pine on Tuesday, Dec. 9, off Road 630. Piles remain in patrol status with smoke expected to be visible through the end of the week, including impacts to Hwy 41.
HSRD: Will be continuing ignitions on Thursday, Dec. 11 at the Barnes Mountain Disposal Area, Near Blue Canyon, off 9S05 and 9S04 pending required approvals. Smoke and flames may be visible in Tollhouse, Auberry, Pine Ridge, Cressman’s, Shaver Lake and other Mountain Communities.
Forest Visitors are encouraged to use caution and be on the lookout for fire crews and personnel when traveling near and through the Prescribed Burn areas. Residents and Visitors are encouraged to not report prescribed burn projects through the 911 system.
