December 15, 2025 – Merced CHP officials report another stop sign violation. Another gun found.

Officers Bounlangsy and Thornton stopped a vehicle on Winton Way at Walnut Avenue for failing to make a complete stop at a stop sign. During the contact, a spent shell casing was observed on the passenger floorboard.

A protective sweep was conducted and a loaded, unregistered firearm was located under the driver’s seat.

This is the second firearm found this month connected to a stop sign violation. How often do people underestimate traffic laws and the risks tied to ignoring them?
