Victim of Battery Passes Away While Suspect Remains Outstanding
December 21, 2025 – Clovis Police Department officials report that they are sad to announce that the victim of the
aggravated battery that occurred on December 18 passed away at the hospital on Saturday afternoon. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 37-year-old Geoffrey Bernardi of Clovis. Bernardi’s unfortunate death means that this is now a homicide investigation.
Clovis Police detectives continue to comb through evidence and follow up on leads. We ask that if you have information or were in the area of Barstow and Peach on Thursday, December 18, 2025, between 12:00 A.M. and 1:00 A.M., to come forward. At this time, the suspect remains unknown and outstanding. This investigation initiated when officers responded to the Dry Creek canal near Barstow and Peach just before 1:00 A.M. on December 18, 2025, for report of a battery. Officers located the victim, who had appeared to be severely beaten, with no one else around. Detectives and crime scene personnel spent the night at the scene, and investigating the circumstances of this gruesome crime. This is Clovis’ third homicide of 2025.
