High-Country Health Food and Cafe in Mariposa California

December 23, 2025 – Merced CHP officials report

Fourth stop this month. Another dangerous situation prevented.

Over the weekend, while working graveyard shift, Officer Bautista and Officer Partida observed a vehicle speeding on Winton Way and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver was determined to be under the influence and was arrested.

During a vehicle inventory, officers located a loaded handgun in the center console and a short barreled rifle with a round in the chamber concealed in the spare tire compartment, along with high-capacity magazines loaded with 31 rounds. Both firearms were unregistered.

This marks the fourth enforcement stop this month that resulted in firearms being removed from our streets. Incidents like this highlight the realities officers encounter while working to keep the community safe.
