December 23, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 10:53 am, Central Policing District officers responded to an apartment complex near Pleasant Avenue and Fedora Avenue for a nine-round ShotSpotter activation. Officers located three gunshot victims. Two of the victims, a 30-year-old male and a 34-year-old female had non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were transported to Community Regional Medical Center. Both of these victims were listed in stable condition. A third victim, 35-year-old Mariano Cabrera, had multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, and was also transported to Community Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. Victim Cabrera was unable to survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel a short time later.
Homicide detectives learned that victim Cabrera and the 30-year-old male victim were confronted by an unknown male inside the apartment complex. The unknown male suspect fired several rounds towards the victims, striking both of them. The 34-year-old female victim, who is unrelated to the other two victims, was unintentionally struck by gunfire.
Detectives are searching the apartment complex and the surrounding neighborhood for witnesses and video surveillance footage that might have captured the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
