December 26, 2025 – Madera CHP officials report that on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, just after 5:00 a.m., CHP Madera officers responded to a two-vehicle crash, on Avenue 7 ½, near Road 9.

A preliminary investigation indicates the following:

A 27-year-old man from Modesto, CA was driving a white Dodge Dakota, traveling eastbound on Avenue 7 ½, east of Road 9. A 47-year-old man from Madera, CA was driving a white Chevrolet Cobalt, traveling westbound on Avenue 7 ½, east of Road 9. For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Dodge veered into the westbound lane, directly into the path of the Chevrolet. The driver of the Chevrolet swerved to the right to avoid a crash, but the left front of the Dodge collided with the left rear of the Chevrolet. After this impact, the Dodge veered onto the north shoulder, collided with a power pole and overturned. The 27-year-old driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the Dodge. He was transported to a local hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was wearing his seatbelt and suffered minor injuries.

This crash is still under investigation. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor (pending toxicology report).
