December 26, 2025 – Merced CHP officials report that on Thursday, December 25, 2025, Officer Sahota responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash on State Route 99 near Winton Parkway. One of the drivers involved stated they were feeling sleepy.

Driving while fatigued is dangerous. When you’re tired, reaction time slows, focus drops, and decision-making is affected.

During the holiday season, many people are eager to get home. If you start feeling sleepy behind the wheel, don’t try to push through it. Pull over. California has rest areas throughout the state where taking a short break or quick nap can help prevent a crash.

Getting there safely is always more important than getting there fast.
