Oakhurst Community Center off Road 425B in Oakhurst remains open to evacuees and their pets.

Cause: Under Investigation

Current Situation:
Firefighters are continuing to build and reinforce containment lines. There continues to be a threat to the Bass Lake Heights community. Access to the fire is difficult due to steep terrain and several structures in the interface. Firefighters are experiencing extreme fire behavior conditions due to drought and low fuel moisture.

Evacuations:
400 Structures with approximately 1,000 residents living in the Northern part of Oakhurst and a section Bass Lake near Road 222 are evacuated. Residents should remain cautious of fire personnel and equipment working in the area.

Madera County Sheriffs Department with an updated evacuation notice for everything north of Recreation Point of Bass Lake. Reduce to Advisory only and allow residents back in that area. This includes World Mark, Slide Creek, Ridgeline, and Cowboy Trail, Recreation Point Recreation Area in Bass Lake

The Cause of the fire is under investigation.

American Red Cross Central Valley, CAL FIRE announces that large animals that need to be evacuated are being transported to the Coarsegold Rodeo Grounds off Road 415, just south of Coarsegold School.
Those evacuating are asked to call the grounds first to let them know you are coming. Call 559-760-5577 and ask for Thomas Bohna

 Madera County Sheriff says as many as 1,000 residents have been evacuated. CalFire says 400 structures threatened. 10 structures destroyed so far.

 Red Cross has opened two shelters -- Oakhurst Community Center off Road 425B and in North Fork, North Fork Town Hall, located on Road 228.

Pet shelter is currently available at the Oakhurst Shelter. North Fork will have pet shelter available at 8:00PM (Pacific Time).

Currently there are 32 people, 4 dogs, 4 cats, 2 birds at the Oakhurst Shelter.

In North Fork there is one person and 1 dog.

CAL Fire will have an officials statement momentarily, which we will post on this site.

Madera County Sheriff: Pre Evacuation issued from Road 274 to Road 222 to Bass Lake Boat Launch -- everything between the Forks and Millers Landing should be on standby in case you are ordered to evacuate. 
Those who evacuate are advised to shelter at the Okhurst Community Center.

Evacuation Warning issued to Jean Road East ... Roads 274 to 222 are on Pre Evacuation notice. The winds are fanning the fire which is working its way up hill.
This is very similar to how the Junction Fire moved through Oakhurst last month.

Madera County Sheriff has  issued a second evacuation notice to all residents who live on both side of Road 426 from Courtney Lane to Road 420 

RedCross has set up shelter at the Oakhurst Community Center. Animals are OK to bring.

No word yet on size of fire or the cause.

The fire started near Courtney Lane and Seven Hills Road in Oakhurst. There are as many as 500 residents who reside in this area of Oakhurst. As many as 200 structures are threatened. 

The attached pictures show smoke billowing above Oakhurst. Picture taken by a deputy near Lucky Lane in Coasregold -- located 16 miles south of where the fire is burning in Oakhurst.

Madera County Sheriff has issued an emergency alert announcing evacuations are in effect from Roads 426 to 423 due to a fire that is burning on Courtney Lane and Seven Hills Road in Oakhurst. #CALFire crews are fighting the fire, while RedCross is in process of setting up shelter for evacuees.
