More Than Numbers. It’s About People.
January 7, 2026 – Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office officials thank community as they head into a new year.
As we reflect on another year of service at the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office, we could share charts, graphs, and crime statistics, etc... yes those matter. Crime data helps guide how we protect Mariposa County and where we focus our resources.
BUT what truly defines our year can’t be measured by software.
It’s the hugs we get from the public.
The smiles, the waves, and the handshakes.
The laughter and joy we see when we hand out stickers to kids and the pride we feel doing it.
The invitations to community events.
The moments when someone simply says, “Thank you for being here.”
Those things mean more to us than any burglary stat ever could.
What can’t be quantified is how deeply our staff is woven into this community. Outside of our daily duties, our employees volunteer countless hours as coaches, mentors, board members, teachers, and helpers serving youth sports, schools, churches, nonprofits, 4-H groups, parent clubs, and community organizations throughout Mariposa County and beyond. They give their time, their skills, and their hearts because they care, not because it’s required.
Our staff serves on school safety committees, citizen oversight boards, youth organizations, and nonprofit boards. They host Bible studies, coach varsity and youth athletics, support memorial benefits, and even assist neighboring counties during major incidents on a volunteer basis, all while continuing their daily responsibilities here at home.
This is what guides us in a much bigger way.
Crime statistics help shape how we do our job.
But what we can’t quantify is what guides why we do it, serving Mariposa County with compassion, integrity, and genuine connection.
As we look ahead to 2026, we are excited to continue not only our daily duties, but our commitments to this community we are proud to call home. We will keep showing up. We will keep serving. And we will keep caring because Mariposa County isn’t just where we work, it’s who we are.
Thank you for every hug, every smile, every wave, and high five.
They mean more than you know.
Happy New Year Mariposa County!
