January 8, 2026 – Mariposa County Library officials announce upcoming poetry reading on Tuesday,
January 13, 2026.
Join in on Tuesday, January 13 at 5:30 p.m. for a poetry reading at the Mariposa Library. We are partnering with the Mariposa Arts Council for this special event.
Teaching artists Clay River and Andra Kovacs will read from a newly published chapbook and will be joined by program graduates. We will also share audio recordings of poetry written and read from inside the jail.
This is free to attend, and no registration is required.
You’re invited. The Mariposa Arts Council invites all community members to a free public poetry reading of work by Mariposa jail inmates.

Teaching artists Clay River and Andra Kovacs will read from the newly published Arts in Corrections poetry chapbook and will be joined by past program participants, as well as recordings of poetry written and read from inside the Mariposa jail.
Arts in Corrections (AIC) is a program for system engaged individuals at the Mariposa Adult Detention Facility and a partnership program with the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office, which offers creative writing and pencil shade drawing workshops to inmates. We are so grateful to the California Arts Council for making this program possible.
This event is free and open to the public. Note that content may not be suitable for children.
