January 11, 2026 – Madera County Sheriff’s Office reports that on January 5, 2026, Madera County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported copper wire theft in progress involving agricultural equipment. Local farmers on scene interrupted the theft and immediately contacted MCSO. The farmers were able to prevent the suspects’ vehicle from leaving before deputies arrived.

Upon arrival, deputies located a female suspect inside the vehicle. Two male suspects attempted to flee on foot into nearby orchards but were apprehended by deputies. Surveillance cameras at the location also helped investigators identify the suspects. All three were from outside the Madera County area, and one was determined to be on felony probation. They were arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail on charges of felony vandalism and felony grand theft of copper materials.
