January 25, 2026 – Madera County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on January 13, 2026, Madera County Sheriff’s Office
deputies responded to a medical aid call involving an unresponsive 3-month-old infant. The child was transported to a local hospital and rushed into emergency surgery due to severe head trauma. Medical professionals determined the injuries were not consistent with any type of fall.
Following a thorough investigation, the non-relative caregiver, 50-year-old Tonya Hamilton, was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail on felony child abuse-related charges.
