February 17, 2026 – Yosemite National Park officials announce that most of Yosemite, including Yosemite Valley, is NPS alertreceiving snow, with stormy weather forecasts throughout the weekend. A few updates:

  • Horsetail Fall is very unlikely to be illuminated at sunset due to the cloudy conditions for the next several days and possibly through the weekend. Due to weather, the pedestrian route on the road to the viewing area has been taken down.
  • Big Oak Flat Road (continuation of Highway 120 from the west to/from Yosemite Valley) will be temporarily closed starting at 6:00 p.m. (February 16). We will evaluate the road this morning. Badger Pass Road is also temporarily closed. Yosemite is reachable via Highways 41 and 140 (tire chains required).

If you are visiting Yosemite, carry tire chains and be prepared for delays and road closures. Call 209/372-0200 (then 1, 1) to check for updates on road closures and chain requirements.

All campgrounds and Curry Village are closed at least through Wednesday night due to high winds and snow.
