Copperopolis Woman Arrested for Felony Hit-and-Run 

February 25, 2026 – Sonora Police Department officials report that on February 12, 2026, at 5:07 p.m. the department Sonora PD felony arrestreceived a call regarding an injury hit-and-run collision that occurred on Hospital Road near Mono Way in Sonora. Responding officers were given a description of the vehicle, and a “Be On The Lookout” was issued to our partnering agencies. During this time, the Sonora area California Highway Patrol received multiple calls about a reckless driver near Chicken Ranch Casino matching the fleeing vehicle’s description.

The investigating officer located private surveillance video from various sources and interviewed witnesses, confirming the driver’s identity as 29-year-old Jacqueline Renee Leach of Copperopolis. Leach later turned herself in to the Sonora Police Department on February 14, 2026, and was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for felony hit-and-run resulting in injuries.

It’s important to remember that the individuals mentioned in this report were arrested based on suspicion of the crimes they’ve been charged with. All such charges are mere allegations, and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
