March 2, 2026 - Last week, the U.S. Department of 'War' released the following:
The Department of War is committed to maximizing taxpayer dollars on warrior education, and to equipping our military leaders to succeed on and off the battlefield.
On February 27, 2026, the Secretary of War signed "Aligning Senior Service College Opportunities with American Values" memorandum directing the Department of War to strategically refocus the education of its senior military officers to ensure alignment with the warrior ethos, National Defense Strategy, and American values. This memo builds on the guidance provided in his February 6, 2026, memorandum, "Rebuilding the Warrior Ethos in Professional Military Education."
Starting in the 2026-27 academic year, the Department is discontinuing all graduate-level PME fellowships and certificate programs with Harvard University. It is also eliminating many other legacy Senior Service College fellowships at Ivy League and other universities that similarly diminish critical thinking, have significant adversary involvement, or fail to deliver rigorous education grounded in realism. The policy changes will not impact any Service members or DoW civilians currently enrolled in the affected programs. These individuals will be allowed to complete their courses of study.
These actions are a continuation of the "Rapid Force-Wide Review of Military Standards," and reinforce the Department's commitment to high standards, rigor, and educational excellence.
The memorandum can be found here.
