March 6, 2026 – The Merced Irrigation District Board of Directors has adopted a $162.6 million budget for Fiscal Year 2027 and established a surface-water rate of $50 per acre foot for this year’s irrigation season. MID Customer Service is currently accepting water orders. Water deliveries to growers will begin in the coming days as water demand builds in each distribution area.
There are no restrictions on water supply this year with MID’s storage reservoir, Lake McClure, currently operating at its maximum operating level and sufficient snowpack in the Merced River watershed.
“We have a good supply of water and snow as we head into spring and our team is ready to get out there and get things moving for our growers,” said MID General Manager John Sweigard.
Deputy General Manager of Water Resources Bryan Kelly said the 2026 Grower Information Packets will be mailed out soon and provide detailed information for MID growers.
MID growers are reminded that their first order of the season needs to be placed directly through customer service in order to update accounts and other information.
