March 14, 2026 - Sierra National Forest officials report recent weather has created significant hazards across the forest. Please use extreme caution when traveling on forest roads.
Hazards Conditions:
- • Downed trees blocking portions of main travel routes
- • Small rockfalls, mud, and silt on road surfaces
- • Occasional slumping and minor mudslides
Accomplishments:
Forest Service Road crews are in the field clearing debris and restoring access where possible. Road clearing above 5,000 feet remains challenging as a resulting from the impact of recent weather systems.
Completed Maintenance:
- • Sky Ranch Road
- • Beasore Road
- • Minarets Road
Work continues on secondary/connecting roads to improve access and conditions across the forest.
Driving Safety:
- • Slow down—blind curves may hide hazards or road crews.
- • Please allow plenty room when passing heavy equipment.
- • Avoid night travel as obstacles are harder to see in the dark.
