March 19, 2026 - Sierra National Forest officials report the forest is planning to continue pile burning operations at the 2024 Disaster and GAOA Byway Recreation Site Rehabilitation Unit at Cold Springs Summit rest stop, near Bedsore Road and the 6S10X junction on Thursday, Mar 19. All required approvals have been acquired.

Prescribed burning fire management is estimated to continue through Mid-May or as weather conditions allow. Residents and visitors near Beasore Meadows, and surrounding mountain communities may see smoke and flames due to a prescribed burn.

Fire management officials work with California Air Resources Board and San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) smoke specialists to plan prescribed burns.
