High-Country Health Food and Cafe in Mariposa California

March 24, 2026 - The Sierra National Forest has launched its 2026 reforestation program offering residents the opportunity to plant seedlings on their private property. This year, more than 300,000 seedlings will be replanted in areas affected by past fires and bark beetle infestation, including ponderosa pine, sugar pine, Jeffrey pine, Douglas fir, and red and white fir.

Residents in North Fork, Oakhurst, or Mariposa can adopt 5 to 20 ponderosa pine seedlings from the Bass Lake Ranger District office at 57003 Road 225, North Fork, Calif.

Residents on the High Sierra Ranger District may pick up conifer seedlings from 3 to 4 p.m. April 17, May 1, May 22, June 12, and June 26 at the Mountain Rest Fire Station, 34911 Tollhouse Road, Auberry, Calif., or while supplies last.

Same day planting is recommended. Instructions will be provided at pickup. For more information, call the Bass Lake Ranger District office at 559 877 2218 or email molly.murray@usda.gov for the High Sierra Ranger District
