April 9, 2026 – Clovis Police Department officials report that a domestic violence suspect who fought with CPD dom violenceofficers and barricaded himself inside of a home has been arrested and is facing several charges following a 2-hour standoff this morning. At 9:01 A.M. on April 8, 2026, Clovis Police officers responded to a home in the 2300 block of Menlo for a disturbance. Once officers arrived, the male adult suspect became combative and barricaded himself alone in the house. Members of our SWAT and Crisis Negotiations Teams were called out to assist patrol officers. Officers negotiated with the suspect and used multiple less lethal options until he was safely taken into custody at 11:10 A.M.

The suspect has been identified as 49-year-old Eric Hazelton of Clovis. Hazelton will be booked into Fresno County Jail for felony domestic violence, battery on a peace officer, and criminal threats. We would like to thank the Fresno County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with their helicopter. Our goal is always to resolve incidents such as these peacefully, and we are grateful today that was the case.
