Homicide Information Wanted – Suspect Vehicle 

April 10, 2026 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report that on November 21st, 2023, at 10:17 a.m., officers with the Sanger Police Department responded to the 800 block of Sequoia Avenue (near Faller Ave.) in Sanger, following reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as 43-year-old Marcos Antonio Escutia, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.  Within minutes of the initial call, additional reports were received regarding a silver Dodge Journey that had possibly been involved in a collision.  It was later found abandoned in a canal in a rural county location outside the City of Sanger. Information gathered from witnesses at the scene identified the vehicle as being involved in the shooting. The vehicle was subsequently recovered by law enforcement and is no longer outstanding.  It had a California license plate of 9AEX579.

Detectives with the Sanger Police Department, in coordination with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, have been actively investigating this case. While no arrests have been made to date, new information has recently been developed which has provided additional investigative leads. Detectives are currently seeking the public’s assistance in obtaining any additional information that may assist with identifying the occupants of the involved Dodge Journey on the date of the homicide.
