Caltrans to Re-Open State Route 140 in Mariposa County 

April 25, 2026 – MARIPOSA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) issued a temporary full closure of State Route 140 (SR-140) in Mariposa County for rock scaling work on Monday, April 20, 2026.

Our Caltrans geotechnical and maintenance teams have made good progress removing the debris and making needed repairs to the roadway.

Beginning Friday, April 24, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. Caltrans re-opened SR-140 to motorists under one-way traffic control from Savage Trading Post to Yosemite Cedar Lodge for the weekend. Caltrans top priority is the safety of the traveling public, as well as our crews, and the contractor who are all working diligently to restore the roadway as safely as possible. Caltrans is asking motorist to expect 5-10 minute delays or more, and to slow down and #MoveOver through the construction zone.

This work is subject to change due to weather, availability of equipment, materials, and or construction-related issues. Caltrans reminds motorists to #KnowBeforeYouGo by checking quickmap.dot.ca.gov or Caltrans QuickMap app on mobile devices for real-time highway conditions prior to travel.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
